Coaches Committee

The NYSSRA Coaches Committee promotes and supports coaching certifications and continuing education along with sound development principles for the NYSSRA community. The committee’s goal is to serve as a resource for New York state coaches, athletes, and clubs. Coaches Committee members work closely with the Alpine Sports Director and development committees to assist in statewide education through events, education materials, and development projects.

Development Committee

Officials Committee

Mission:

  • Facilitate and provide annual educational requirements per USSS
  • Schedule TD assignments for the NYSSRA calendar
  • Reporting of officials certification and advancements
  • Recruit and develop new Alpine officials

Mission: This committee visits requests from coaches on behalf of their athletes for discretionary selection to an event

Children's Committee

Mission:

To promulgate and communicate best practices for U10, U12 and U14 Programs within NYSSRA.  To develop guidelines and rules for competitions and assist councils and member clubs in developing competition and training schedules aimed at long-term athlete development. To organize and promote safe and appropriate regional and statewide events that celebrate camaraderie and excellence in alpine ski racing. 

 

Vision:

Ensure that youth programs are aligned in their pursuit of athlete development and promoting lifelong enjoyment and excellence in skiing.

Mission: To create a structure to distribute the funds approved by the Board according to the rules created by the Racer Support Committee and approved by the Board.

Appeals Committee

Appeals Committee

Mission: 

The NYSSRA Appeals Committee deals with decisions relating to selection, the Race Jury, the Technical Delegate and disciplinary action taken pursuant to the Code of Conduct. The Appeals and Due Process procedures as set forth in the USSS. Competition Guide shall apply except as modified hereafter.

  • Appeals must be submitted within 48 hours after the announcement/publication of the decision from which the appeal is being taken.
  • All appeals shall be filed with NYSSRA Administrative Director.

On Appeal, factual issues shall be overturned only if it is found that the decision concerned was an abuse of discretion; issues relating to the interpretation and application of the Competition Rules, as that term is defined in the Code of Conduct, shall be reviewed de novo.
